General’s Challenge

Every Tournament has a way of determining who the ultimate Victor is; The Best. But what determines the Best? Is the Best determined by wins alone? The Indys say no. Best What? General? Painter? Hobbyist? Suckup?

In my early days, I played Star Fleet Battles. I became an Ace with my favorite ship, and played in many fleet games at conventions. But there wasn’t a way of determining who was the Best Captain, as ships weren't inherently equal. They created a Tournament set of ships, relatively balanced, to help solve the question. Tournaments could then find the best captain. Out of those early tourneys came the Captain’s game, where you didn't take your favorite ship, you were assigned one for each round. Now it wasn’t your knowledge and strategy with your proven tactics with your ship, it was how you did with ANY ship.

This is my warhammer equivalent.

16 opponents come to play. They bring nothing but themselves. The armies are equally ugly as I painted them. The dice are all my dice. Get assigned a race, Get assigned an opponent and a table. Play. Bring back the army, get assigned another. Rinse and repeat. Find out who is best.

Get Assigned your Race. Then see who you face. Good luck.

Are you ready to take the General’s Challenge?
